Al-Nasr is seeking to inflict the first loss this season on its neighbor Al-Hilal, which won the title, when it hosts it – the day after tomorrow, Friday – at the “Al-Awal Park” Stadium in Riyadh in the 32nd round of the Saudi Football League.

Al-Hilal won the 19th league title in its history, following its great victory over Al-Hazm 4-1 in the last stage, strengthening its position in the lead with 89 points without loss with 29 wins, including 24 consecutive wins and two draws, with a difference of 12 points against Al-Nasr.

The match is important for the two teams, especially Al-Nasr, which lost 3 times to its neighbor and traditional rival this season: by 3-0 in the first round of the league, 2-0 in the friendly season cup in Riyadh, and 1-2 in the semi-final of the local Super Cup.

Also, the Friday derby is an experience two weeks before they face each other again, but in the final match of the King’s Cup competition.

For its part, Al Hilal hopes to repeat its achievement in the 2010-2011 season, when it was crowned champion without losing in 26 matches (19 wins and 7 draws).

The two teams will play the match in the absence of 8 players from their ranks, most notably Al Hilal players Salem Al Dosari and Habib Al Watyan due to injury, and Senegalese international defender Khalidou Koulibaly due to suspension.

Al-Dosari participated in part of Al-Hilal’s training, but he will not be ready for Friday’s match, and will be prepared to compete in the cup final derby on May 31.

On the other hand, Al-Nasr loses the services of 5 players, led by Abdul Rahman Gharib, Brazilian Anderson Talisca, Mohamed Maran, Nawaf Al-Aqidi, and Walid Abdullah.

The two teams are equal in number of victories in the league, with 42 each in 116 matches, compared to 32 draws.

On the other hand, the match will witness a confrontation between the top scorer in the league, Portuguese international Al-Nasr star Cristiano Ronaldo (33 goals), and his direct pursuer, Al-Hilal’s Serbian international striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic (26).

Both Ronaldo and Mitrovic need to score two goals to break two records, the first in the number of goals in one season in the history of the league, which was achieved by Moroccan International Federation striker Abdel Razzaq Hamdallah (34 goals) in the 2018-2018 season when he was defending the colors of Al-Nasr, and the second in the number of goals. In one season for a striker in the ranks of Al Hilal, which was achieved by Frenchman Bafetimbi Gomis in the 2019-2020 season.
